Gt. Julius Ben Asare Nkrumah
Gt. Julius Benjamin Asare Nkrumah enrolled at the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) in Takoradi on Wednesday, September 30, 1981, and was admitted to the Kennedy House. He completed his O’level in 1986 and studied Mechanical Engineering (PLANT option) -Mechanical Engineering Technician’s PT 1 to PT 3 at the Takoradi Technical University. Later, Gt. Nkrumah obtained the full technological certificate in Mechanical Engineering (GES).
Gt. Nkrumah is the go-to person for managing all alumni projects at GSTS. His skill, knowledge, and experience have seen him successfully and on time manage several projects on campus. He will share the challenges and joys of managing such projects at the alma mater. His recent accomplishments as the site project manager include the GAA-North America Dining Hall Roof Project, the GAA-UK Chapter Tower Clock Project, and GAA-86 borehole Project, among others. In addition, as Global Organizer, he is responsible for organizing all global activities, the most recent being the highly successful 2023 Homecoming Weekend. He served as the Dep Organiser from 2019 – 2021 and has been the Global Organiser since 2021.
Giant Nkrumah works with Takoradi Flour Mill Ltd in Takoradi as the General Mill Supervisor (Production Dept.). In addition, he is the Training Supervisor and Consultant for Premium Foods Ltd in Kumasi (A maize milling company).
He also received a Diploma in Bible Studies from Reingbuen BIBLESKOLLEN in Norway.
At GSTS, Gt. Nkrumah was the Cadet Sergeant Major, a choir robe master, a school athlete, and the sports monitor for Kennedy House. He is heavily involved with the alumni association becoming the Takoradi Chairman for his year group (Subruku 86) and the National Vice for the same year group. He served as the Project Committee Chairman for his year group (Subruku) and designed the water system (borehole). He serves as a GAA Projects and Infrastructure Committee member and has been honored by the GAA as one of the most committed volunteers.
Outside the Association, Gt. Nkrumah plays other active roles in society. He is a bass guitarist for his Church band (Bethel Methodist Church in Takoradi) and an Estate Officer for Eshiem Residents Association at Eshiem near Kojokrom. He lives in Takoradi with his wife and children.
